If you’ve ever shopped for a home or needed to sell one, chances are you’ve learned that some agents are good, some downright terrible, and a few stand out as true professionals. Nancy Freer is one such professional and that’s why she has been selected for LKG Online’s first “Featured Business” article, and an example of what some of the “DO” look-fors are when choosing a Realtor.

Experience matters

Whether you’re looking for a vacation home or a full-time residence, along the water or an inland area, there are specifics to each person’s needs. Nancy explains, “My favorite thing about working around the lake is the beauty I get to observe while working. This is a beautiful area whether water front or off water. So many different styles of homes are available and many different people come to this area looking for homes for so many different reasons. I enjoy hearing their life stories and what brings them to our area. I think this is of particular interest to me as I came from such a busy area to this quiet serene lake life.”

Nancy Freer is a Realtor with Long & Foster, and has been working in the Lake Gaston area for 4 years. She is licensed in both NC and VA. Prior, she was a Realtor in the Northern Virginia area for 16 years. She is also a licensed instructor for Real Estate and has taught for Long & Foster Academy and Mosley Flint School of Real Estate.

Is this a hobby or a career for the agent?

A successful Realtor understands that it’s all about relationships. While someone might not buy (or list) today, they may in the future, and if they’ve had a good experience, may also send referrals to that agent. Nancy has a mantra when it comes to her career: “The real estate business is like the ebb and flow of the ocean; if you love it you have to keep up with it or you will lose the desire to ride the waves and reap the rewards.” Her communication is excellent: e-mails and phone calls are returned promptly, she provides knowledge other than just what is already available in the listing, and more.

Enthusiasm makes a difference

“I bring a lot of enthusiasm to my business, I find that combining my expertise and professionalism is not all it takes to make a transaction a happy one,” Nancy explains. “I like my clients to know I am enthusiastic about them getting the home they want and I am very happy when we pull it all together.”

Nancy is happily married and likes to volunteer in the community. She still makes many trips back to Northern Virginia to visit her daughter and 3 teenage granddaughters. She and her husband love boating and love animals, and have recently adopted a new dog. Nancy says that when she retires, she would love to do more with rescue groups for dogs. She also loves to read and just relax by the water.
