Furr’s Rocks!

Have you been to Furr’s Deli & Dogs in Bracey? One of the newest businesses in the Lake Gaston area, they opened in spring 2019, and have been “rocking” in more ways than one!

The deli offers a variety of lunch meats and cheeses, freshly made sandwiches and salads, and offers a daily lunch special, which have been a hit with locals and weekenders alike. They also have dinner specials which are available in limited quantity, available to be reserved and picked up each day. Many of their lunches and dinners are family-oriented comfort foods, and everything is made fresh at the deli.

In addition, they carry a variety of fresh produce, fresh meats such as filets, ribeye steaks, and fresh chicken, as well as some fresh fish (in season) and of course, their signature creation: ribeye burgers! These ribeye burgers have truly become “a thing” in the Bracey and Lake Gaston area, but be warned… you might never be able to go back to your old burgers again!

The business is owned by Tammy and Robert Furr, who have long been involved in the local community: They also own Shorelines by Design, offering rip rap, cart paths, paver work, & retaining walls, and Sticks & Stones, offering mulch, stone, gravel, etc. The deli, as well as their stone samples and offices are located at 50 Golf Drive, Bracey, VA, 23919. It is diagonal from the post office… look for the big American flag!

Recently, the Furrs hosted a Customer Appreciation Day, complete with a live band, “The Switch,” and free food, including a triple pig-pickin’, 103 pounds of homemade cole slaw, 108 pounds of baked beans, and more. It is estimated that well over 300 people turned up throughout the day-long event, and the couple were thrilled to be able to express their appreciation for the support the community has given them, as well as the opportunity to provide a special, fun day.

Tammy Furr said, “Thank you to everyone! Without you this would not be possible. Without you, this place would be an empty shell, but with you, you made it a dream come true.”

Regarding the excellent turnout for the Customer Appreciation Event,

Robert Furr agreed with his wife and added, “We’re pretty psyched about the turnout of both friends and strangers… I’m hoping the strangers will become friends and customers too!”

Store hours vary by season, so it’s a good idea to check their Facebook page for updated hours. While you’re there, you can also “like” their page, so you’ll see what their lunch specials are, and other fun things, such as their current “stop by after hunting contest,” and more. You can also call the deli at 434-636-7900.

Last but not least, they also offer pre-orders for their salads, meatloaf, and other homestyle foods for events. Cheese/meat trays, sandwich platters, etc. Tammy said, “We can accommodate most anything with at least a week’s notice!”
